The Scenario –
Our client, Revolt London, had outgrown their existing managed office space and were looking to grow and strike out on their own, selecting a multi-storey unit in Hatton Garden they could add their own touch to. Having come from a serviced office environment, Revolt were in need of most of the tech that makes up a working office, seeking IWP’s guidance on connectivity, network, WiFi, security (both virtual and physical), distributed audio, media editing, meeting room AV as well as a large communal presentation space.
An aggressive programme of works from the elected fit out contractor WeAreTwo meant a very compact project and procurement cycle was needed from IWP, as well as a large degree of flexibility from our on site engineers.
The Solution –
IWP’s overall design considered both the layout and intended usage of the space itself and the overall forward thinking strategy and ethos of our clients Revolt London. With their sizeable investment in their office space, security was a key concern, both virtually and physically. These were addressed by Juniper Mist’s cloud first networking & WiFi solutions with secure VPN, as well as integrated physical security from Rhombus for CCTV and Kisi for Access Control, allowing flexible yet secure access to the site paired with remotely viewable CCTV feeds of each access area to the site, with all data being stored in the cloud.
To accommodate the highly collaborative nature of Revolt London, a bespoke distributed audio system was specified alongside a large open plan presentation suite. Passively, the audio system can be used for public announcement (PA) and/or streaming ambient music. Actively, it can be tied into the presentation equipment in order to stream audio site-wide for company events.
Finally, in order to consolidate Revolt London’s server estate and ease collaboration for both their remote and office based teams, IWP carried out a data evaluation and documentation of their on-premise stored files, with legacy data being archived and live data being moved to LucidLink, enabling secure, real time collaboration on all Revolt London’s projects from geographically distributed teams.
The elected site had no incumbent internet connection for Revolt London to inherit. They opted for a 1Gbps Ethernet connection via IWP, though with the very aggressive programme of works (around 30 working days from inception to completion) this gave us a very small window in which to get the connection installed, tested & working.
From working closely with Revolt London, IWP was able to get orders issued to Openreach early, with the full install taking only 28 working days for install – 17 working days faster than industry average.
The Outcome –
Revolt London were able to vacate their office on the date agreed with their prior landlord, saving them any cost in additional rent payment or late exit penalties. All services were installed on time and to specification despite the very short requested turnaround, with IWP installation teams working round the clock to meet deadlines. The additional desk and collaboration space has enabled staff working from external co-working sites to return to the office with their colleagues, whilst the revolutionising of Revolts online collaboration processes and methods has further promoted Revolt London’s hybrid working ethos, without the additional expensive of subsidising via 3rd party space providers.
